SORE

Sore is a Jakarta-based indie band formed in 2002. The band originally formed by Ade Paloh, Mondo Gascaro, and Awan Garnida. These three guys have been being close friend each other since their childhood.[1] Other two members Bembi Gusti and Reza Dwiputranto, was brought by Awan Garnida. Word Sore is Bahasa Indonesia, in English means "late afternoon".
2004 - 2005-Early years and Centralismo debut album
In 2004 and early 2005 Sore contributed two songs in a couple of compilation albums, the first one was a compilation album of Jakarta’s indie scene called "JKRT: SKRG" (an abbreviation of "Jakarta, Sekarang" which translates "Jakarta, Now"). The album was released by Aksara Records. The another one was an original motion picture soundtrack of "Janji Joni"[2]. The album was released by Aksara Records too.
Sore finally released their full-length debut album Centralismo in 2005.[3] The album title itself refer to the world "central", which in this case refer to Central Jakarta, where the most band members grew up. The music varied greatly from track to track as each member contributed lead singing and song-writing in this album. Their vintage instrumentation, like the use of vibraphones, mellotron, and horn section is reminiscent of popular music in the 50's, 60's and 70's.
The first album was praised by Time Magazine Asia as "One of Five Asian Albums Worth Buying",[4] and Rolling Stone Indonesia magazine ranked it the 40th in "150 Greatest Indonesian Albums of All Time". The fifth single, "No Fruits for Today", also ranked as one of 150 Greatest Indonesian Albums of All Time.[5]
2005-2008 - Ports of Lima
While preparing their materials for their second album, they contributed to four original soundtrack albums: "Berbagi Suami" (Love for Share); "Kala" (Dead Time); Quickie Express; "Perempuan Punya Cerita" (Chants of Lotus), one of which became a hit single, "Pergi Tanpa Pesan", a reworking of an Indonesian classic from the late 1950s.
In April 2008, three years after releasing the debut album, Sore released their second album, Ports of Lima with Aksara Records as label. The album also voted as Best Album of 2008 in the #1st list rank number[6] by Rolling Stone Indonesia magazine. _wiki

Mocca are Arina (vocal), Riko (guitar), Toma (bass) and Indra (drum). Mocca plays indie pop folk jazz swing bossa nova music. They established at 1999 in Bandung, Indonesia. At the mid of 2011 the band have to take a break because Arina have to go to USA to get married. This rockumentary will tell their story after 12 years together and have to deal with this moment.

The film involving enormous young filmmakers from Jakarta and Bandung including Swinging Friends (Mocca Fans Club).

Mocca Rockumentary : Life Keeps on Turning directed by Ari Rusyadi and Nicholas Yudifar, also featuring surprised sequences created by Muhammad Akbar, Yusuf Ismail and Videorobber, visual artists from Bandung and Yogyakarta.

Prefered to be called as a fellowship rather than a band, Homogenic is a party of three with combination of their own uniquely strong individualities gathered in the same vision in music. Homogenic (same pronounced in english or bahasa) began their story in 2002 from only 2 women with the same visions and ambitions until the one and only guy joined and completed it all. Homogenic itself inspired by the world’s best-known Icelandic musician, Bjork, without trying to imitate her style or tunes.

Formed by Dina Dellyana (rhythm programming, vocoded vocals, synths, pcm piano, guitar), Grahadea Kusuf (analog synths, computer sequencing programming) and Risa Saraswati (then replaced by Amandia Syachridar) (vocalist), their music created not only by the influnce of music but also the influnce of emotions and beautiful living things in the world, whole packaged in electronic pop.

Homogenic just trying to simplify electronic music with slightly female voice pop then blend it with a bit drum and bass and idm, the result is a sweet electronic pop tunes that might be and could be listened by broad ears without being labeled as a segmented music yet a majority pop. Essentially, they lived between two different world and happy for being there.Their eclecticism always longing to find its greatest, in a hail of lush melodies, playful instruments and stuttering beats. Sebelumnya, para personel Themilo berasal dari band-band hardcore. Lagu-lagu mereka cenderung galau, walaupun sebenernya dasar musik mereka adalah pop. Sekilas, lagu-lagu Themilo terasa seperti sebuah atmosfer yang tenang, seperti merasa sendirian di tengah-tengah hutan yang luas (Sangat sesuai dengan sampul album, poster & selebaran mereka yang selalu bernuansa seperti itu). Alunan-alunan lagu Themilopenuh dengan kegalauan yang membuat pendengarnya melamun, bermimpi atau mengingat kenangan masa lampau.

Nama Themilo berasal dari nama anjing peliharaan Mickey Mouse yang bernama "Milo". Ajie Gergaji (vokalis & gitaris sekaligus pemimpinThemilo) senang sekali menonton film kartun, dan pada suatu saat ia menonton film kartun di mana ada anjing bernama "Milo". Ia berpikir bahwa nama "Milo" sangat bagus untuk dijadikan nama band, sekaligus mudah diingat. Jadi, Themilo itu tidak ada sangkut-pautnya dengan salah satu merek susu, walaupun banyak orang yang beranggapan begitu. Themilo terbentuk sekitar tahun 1996. Themilo pada awalnya merupakan side project, di mana para personel Themilo masing-masing sudah memiliki band sendiri. Kemudian, side project ini malah menjadi sesuatu yang serius bagi personel Themilo.

Themilo mengeluarkan single berisi tiga lagu di bawah Flatspills Records yang berjudul "Romantic Purple" dan album penuh berjudul Let Me Begin di bawah M4AI records. Selain itu, Themilo juga telah memproduksi beberapa video klip independen, antara lain Malaikat, Romantic Purple, Yin's Evolving, Dunia Semu (feat. Rock 'n Roll Mafia) dan Lolita. Video klip Malaikat dari Themilo termasuk video klip yang mengalami high rotation untuk kriteria video klip indie di MTV Indonesia.

Themilo juga mengisi lagu berjudul Broke di album kompilasi "delicatessen" keluaran Poptastic! Records yang juga diisi oleh band-band lain seperti Mocca, The Upstairs, Blossom Diary, dan lain-lain. Pengaruh mereka datang dari band-band shoegaze or dreampop seperti My Bloody Valentine, Cocteau Twins dan Slowdive. Sepertinya Themilo ingin menghidupkan musik shoegaze di Indonesia yang memang masih jarang pengusungnya.

Album pertama mereka, Let Me Begin dirilis di Bandung pada bulan April 2003. Launching album Let Me Begin sendiri diadakan pada tanggal8 Juni 2003. Pada akhir tahun 2003, album repackaged dirilis dengan bonus tambahan lagu "Dunia Semu" hasil remix Rock 'n Roll Mafia dan sebuah lagu berjudul Finally Home.

Themilo berkolaborasi dengan beberapa artis Bandung, seperti misalnya Alexandra (vokalis Sieve) menyumbang suara dan lirik untuk lagu "Yin's Evolving" dan "Sianida". Selain itu Alvin (vokalis Harapan Jaya & Teenage Death Star) juga mengisi vokal pada lagu "Broke"

Hertz Dyslexia, Sebuah Eksperimen The S.I.G.I.T

TEMPO Interaktif, Jakarta: Setelah tertunda sekitar empat bulan, band rock asal Bandung, The Super Insurgent Group of Intemperance Talent (The S.I.G.I.T), mengeluarkan mini album bertajuk "Hertz Dyslexia". Dalam mini album ini, The S.I.G.I.T mencoba menggali kemampuan mereka dengan membawakan lagu bernuansa pop, tanpa meninggalkan karakter rock n roll.

"Hertz Dyslexia" dijual bersamaan dengan "The Dyslexia Concert" yang digelar di The Venue Concert Hall, Eldorado, Bandung, Sabtu (20/6).

The S.I.G.I.T adalah Donar Armando Ekana alias Acil, 26 tahun (drum), Aditya Bagja Mulyana alias Adit, 27 tahun (bas), Farri Icksan Wibisana, 26 tahun (gitar), dan terakhir Rektivianto Yoewono, 27 tahun (vokal dan gitar).

Seperti album perdana mereka "Visible Idea of Perfection", "Hertz Dyslexia" masih mengusung karakter khas rock n roll. Dengarkan saja lagu "Money Making", "Verge of Puberty", atau "The Party". Namun, The S.I.G.I.T juga seakan bereksperimen dengan lagu bernada sendu seperti "Only Love Can Break Your Heart" dan "Midnight Mosque Song".

"Hertz Dyslexia" dibuka dengan lagu "Money Making" yang sudah beredar cukup lama di situs myspace mereka. Berbeda dengan lagu-lagu The S.I.G.I.T sebelumnya, "Money Making" melemparkan pertanyaan bernada filosofis. Dengan lirik yang relatif pendek, sang penulis lirik tidak berusaha berceramah.

Tengok saja penggalan lirik "Money Making" yang dibuat Rekti berikut ini: "But what school has taught were money making/ Money making: a search for thrive? Design for life? Work until five/ Money making hell".

Pada lagu kedua, The S.I.G.I.T menyuguhkan "Bhang". Sekilas lagu ini mengingatkan pada riff gitar "Smoke on the Water" milik band Deep Purple. Pada "Bhang", The S.I.G.I.T juga bereksperimen dengan suara suling yang ditiup Rekti.

Dalam mini album ini, The S.I.G.I.T juga membawakan lagu penyanyi legenda Amerika Serikat Neil Young berjudul "Only Love Can Beak Your Heart". Lagu ini membuktikan bahwa The S.I.G.I.T mampu mengemas lagu berirama pop. Harmonisasi suara Rekti dengan Adit terdengar selaras. Saat dibawakan di "The Dyslexia Concert", kualitas pemaduan suara mereka terasa lebih bagus lagi.

Mini album ini ditutup dengan "Midnight Mosque Song". Lagu tersebut masih memberi nuansa seperti lagu di album perdana mereka, "The Provocateur".

"Hertz Dyslexia" awalnya dijadwalkan keluar pada Februari lalu. Akan tetapi, mini album ini tersendat di tangan Lembaga Sensor Film. Pasalnya, "Hertz Dyslexia" juga menyertakan bonus berupa DVD konser The S.I.G.I.T di AACC Bandung, 16 Desember 2006.

The Insurgent Army, sebutan para penggemar The S.I.G.I.T, bakal dipuaskan dengan 14 lagu yang ada dalam DVD tersebut. Selain itu, sampul yang digarap El Fandiary membuat mini album ini memiliki nilai karya seni tersendiri.

Menurut Rekti, "Hertz Dyslexia" menjadi jembatan bagi album kedua The S.I.G.I.T. Sementara Acil mengaku mereka belum berani mengeluarkan album kedua karena merasa belum nyaman dengan materi di "Hertz Dyslexia".

Dengan perubahan pesat dari mini album pertama mereka, The Super Insurgent Group of Intemperance Talent, ke album perdana, "Visible Idea of Perfection", album kedua The S.I.G.I.T layak dinantikan.
